Eyd Fazushka mare 1991 (Fadlak x Zanushka)

This is the mare I halter trained and showed, Fazushka. I had too little time really but since we got third (out of ten) in our class it can't have been a total disaster. She is owned by my friend Iota Lilliemarck.

Fazushka has had one foal by Elton, Farin.

Fazushka belongs to the very sucessful mare line of Scherife OA 1896 from Babolna. This line came to Poland as the result of war. The arabian horses captured by the germans weren't necessarily kept together and some of them ended up in serum laboratories and some at the "super farm" in Hostau. In Hostau the germans had assembled high quality horses of all breeds for the purpose of breeding super horses. When the arabians of Poland were repatriated some mares of Babolna was in the herd having been rescued from the serum factory. In 1952 these horses were sent back to Babolna but by then they had left valuable families in Poland. Many of the these Babolna lines were represented in Poland previous to the war (especially in the male line with many good stallions) but not to the same extent and success as after the war. Many of the mares were by the desert import Kuhailan Zaid OA, imported to Babolna at the same time as Kuhailan Haifi OA and Kuhailan Afas OA were imported to Gumniska.

Two mares came to Poland of this line, Brzytwa 1932 and Bulwa 1937. They were half sisters out of 12 Siglavi Bagdady 1919 who in turn was a granddaughter of Scherife OA. Bulwa was by Kuhailan Zaid OA and produced two mares, Alga 1947 and Bulgotka 1951, both by Witraz. Alga founded the larger branch but both branches has been very successful. Bulgotka was the dam of Bogoria 1956 imp Sweden who was granddam of *Probat and three mares exported to the US, *Bulawa 1959 by Laur (a full sister to Bogoria), *Boltonka 1958 by Arax and *Busznica 1960 by Faher. The Bulgotka branch is almost extinct in Poland, there are only a few mares owned by private breeders. It has been much more successful in the US, especially through *Boltonka when she was bred to *Bask. One stallion of that cross was imported to Sweden, Bomarc.

The Alga branch has been rather well represented in Sweden, especially in the male line with the stallions Algier by Wielki Szlem, *Algomej (leased in exchange for *Probat) and *Aloes (leased in exchange for Alcazar). There has been some mares as well, *Aloes sister Alabama (both out of *Algoa) and Alarga 1969, a granddaughter of Alga out of *Ala. Alarga was a "trotting wonder" and was highly placed in a class at Ascot. Alarga's daughter Zamora 1980 by Zareef is the dam of the stallion Radetzky by Etat exp UK and the mares Zanushka and *Zita SWSB by *Probat. Zanushka is also dam of the stallion Zaracz by *Haracz, exp UK.
